As the first half of the Fall semester wraps up, Eric and I frequently find ourselves discussing Celeste's education. What are we going to do? We are both in school and work full-time, and a move would just add to our already stressed lives. Neither of us wants our child to go to public school in Alvin either.
We have been blessed with the best daycare provider in the world, Ms. Linda. I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality care for their child. Celeste has known her ABC's since just before she was 2, and at her age of 4 now, she can spell her name, write it out, and spell out words. She's also writing words and sounding them out, and hasn't even been to Kindergarten nor any Pre-K program. Ms. Linda does not use the TV as a babysitter; she's amazing. After being so spoiled, how are we going to find an educational program that will encourage our daughter to excel? So the search is on.
One of the things I'm not looking forward to when she does start school next year is dealing with her having to say goodbye to her pink satin blanket. She's had the blanket since she was born; I used to wrap her in it tightly like a burrito and she would play with the satin and rub it in between her tiny fingers. Then it quickly became the blanket in her left hand, and her right thumb in her mouth. (Yes, braces are in our future for sure.) We've slowly began taking the blanket away for small durations of time, but need to be more proactive about doing that often.
I walked into the dining area yesterday to find her in her usual spot; feet tucked under, blanket in left hand (can't see in the picture), right thumb in mouth and watching a movie on her laptop. For a moment, I just stared at her. This beautiful angel has been entrusted to me. The thought is overwhelming, and I really want to make her proud.
